Community Involvement

Nokia helps prepare young people to become well-rounded individuals and to embrace opportunities offered by the global economy and new technological advancements. We are committed to community involvement programs which:

  • Improve young people's educational opportunities, teaches life skills and assists young people to make a positive contribution to the community
  • Bridge the digital divide and bring innovative benefits of mobile technology to communities
  • Enhance and encourage employee participation

Nokia actively seeks potential partners whose programs align with our stated goals. Therefore, we are not currently open to unsolicited requests. If you feel that our organizations have a common commitment to society, we invite you to carefully review the guidelines provided before submitting an Intent to Apply.

Intent to Apply

An abbreviated screening process limited to organizations that clearly achieve the objectives stated, Nokia's Intent to Apply is a precursor to an extensive grant application procedure. For initial consideration, potential partners must focus on one of the three impact areas listed above. Programs outside the scope of the guidelines explained here will not be considered for funding.

Eligible organizations may submit their Intent to Apply by providing the following:

  • A one page document stating the mission and background of the organization
  • A one page outline of the proposed program, including anticipated outcomes
  • A program budget
  • A copy of the requestor's 501c3 notification letter

The four documents listed should be the only items submitted electronically to . Nokia will provide a response to those inquiries following the guidelines listed. Please note, Nokia will not make contributions for Community Involvement purposes to the following:

  • Organizations without 501(c) 3 and 509 (a) tax-exempt status or private foundations
  • Organizations that practice discrimination by race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, age or national origin
  • Operating and capital funding requests
  • Campaigns covering capital funding or endowments
  • Individuals
  • Political activities and organizations
  • Religious organizations for sectarian purposes
  • Fraternal, veterans or labor groups, when serving only their membership
  • Religious schools that restrict entry to those professing a certain faith or those who belong to a specific denomination or sect
